The pace of US jobs growth
slowed to a disappointing 142,000 in August in a weak report that clashes with
a wealth of other recent data on the world’s largest economy.
It breaks a six month run of jobs growth above 200,000 and came in well below
analyst expectations of 230,000 new jobs. The unemployment rate fell slightly
from 6.2 to 6.1 per cent.
